Christopher Coppers

We stumbled across Christopher Copper's work today and absolutely love it, we think it's a great re-interpretation of the disposable culture of magazines. Not that either of us ever throw out magazines, we try to only buy the ones you'd want to keep. The carved out expressions on the magazines covers is a wonderfully destructive creation, which works so well in juxtaposition to the airbrushed facade and gloss of the mags. We'd both love to meet him, but would think twice about inviting him round for a coffee and a look at our magazines.

Gerhard Richter

Happy Friday! It's been another week without any posts from b&f. Must mean we've been busy busy! Wanted to share with you the works of another artist crush of Franks, Gerhard Richter - recently rediscovered after seeing news of his retrospective showing in London at the Tate Modern. We love the juxtaposition of a loose, organic method of painting against seemingly venacular photographs that are almost obliterated by the paint. Check out his work over here - www.gerhard-richter.com - and make up your own mind.

Art Crush - Tatiana Trouve

I can't believe it's been over a week since our last post - it's been a busy one! A few trips to the printers to collect new tests and slowly, day by day, we're adding more and more prints for sale on our Etsy shop. Aside from that, today I wanted to share with you a little art crush - Tatiana Trouve. Italian born, Parisian resident, her work is amazing. Enjoy your Saturday!

Frank messing with his new old Polaroid 600SE

Frank has been messing about with the newest addition to his camera collection - a 1978 Polaroid 600SE. Lucky number 17! First out was a shot of me, spinning in front of the lo-fi b&w Macro Eyes #2 print and She Ponders colour. Showing just how big the betty&frank posters really are! Next was a shot of himself in front of the b&w lo-fi Flower Bed print and finally our flat mate Lauren... snapped quietly in a spacey daze. Hope you're all enjoying the beautiful sunshine we're having in Melbourne!

Betty&Frank prints launch tonight at RE-VAMP

Happy Thursday-Almost-Friday!

Over the past month, Frank and I have been sporadically developing a body of work we can sell online in the form of oversized prints. We're still at the testing stage - dotting all the i's and crossing the t's. But in the mean time we have decided to include two of our prints in a little exhibition taking place in Collingwood over the next couple of weeks.

The exhibition is RE-VAMP - a collection of work produced by design studio taylorandgrace.com.au and it launches tonight! We are super excited!! Especially as all proceeds from the event go to a wonderful organisation called MIND - a leading provider of consumer-focused services that aid people living with mental health difficulties.

The exhibition runs from October 6-13. To take a look, or order a print online contact taylorandgrace.com.au for more info.

Wish us luck!

Kate MacDowell

This post goes out to my friend Grace! It's a small peek at the work of Kate MacDowell - she creates beautiful objects that appear to have a somewhat distorted and twisted view. Her work reflects on political stresses such as climate change and pollution, while nodding to myth, art history and figures of speech. Via intricate porcelain hand sculptures, in a white on white effect, she is able to produce art that either make you turn away, or look... stop and ponder... and look again. Check out her full body of work at katemacdowell.com.
